TCU, MFA 2016
Watercolor pencil, graphite and oil on canvas, 2016, 8"w x 10"h
My work displays my use of art in contemporary culture, coming from a background rooted in curandera practices, Catholic Santeria and the passing on of stories and traditions. A variety of materials is at play supporting formal elements of drawing, painting and three-dimensional objects. In my work, questions of tradition, collecting, journaling and using art as spiritual healing coexist. Text and visual imagery support the idea that my work is a record of my experiences and beliefs.
