This painting addresses the impacts of industry on the environment. The naturalistic environment gets absorbed into the mechanized world and vice versa, creating a synthesized whole in which humanity becomes somewhat alien. The painting was created in layers, using a rapid, gestural drip technique followed by traditional painting and abstractions—a variety of elements brought together in a cohesive whole, much like the subject matter. The question being, do these juxtaposed unlikely elements create harmony or chaos?
