2013, Airbrush paint, foam, 36"w x 38"h x 1"d
When creating my work, I cast, form, shape, squeegee and pour highly synthetic materials. I am interested in manipulating these materials to the fullest degree, finding the limitations of the materials in my process. I am interested in how foam can behave in several different ways and how it can skew my viewers’ understanding of form and longevity, growth and entropy, as well as the relationship between the natural and the synthetic. I focus on ideas of the simulacra by faking the organic with man-made materials.
