Using trees as the connecting tissue, I explore our interactions with nature, advanced by the biophilia hypothesis (humans seeking connection with nature), with a naturalist’s childlike curiosity. Through personal immersion and scientific research, the metaphysical and literal intersect. At a forest fire site in Cadillac, Michigan, the blaze was arson. Whether by direct human involvement or from long-term abuse wrapped around the discussion on waste and deforestation, humans have left the conversation. Who will speak for the trees now?
