I am interested in the idea of humans as vessels. I start with that premise and explore the different ways vessels are built. I work with multiple construction techniques as a method of exploration, how the processes leave visual clues and a record of the maker’s hand. I am also exploring how the influence of outside forces, either welcomed or tightly controlled, affect that record. This process leaves scar tissue and deformity that I attempt to celebrate in the final piece. This serves as a literal description of my work and a metaphor for the concept of humans as vessels.
