Possessions, steel, 18,000 feet of thread, 2016, 30"w x 30"h x 12"d
For hours, days and weeks I wrapped, cocooned and mummified some of my most precious possessions until they become vague silhouettes of their former selves. Buried under 18,000 feet of gold silk thread, this work calls into question our personal and cultural compulsions to turn ordinary objects into valuable artifacts. Through labor and material, I explore the connection between the literal conservation of objects and the emotional preservation of memory.
