My work challenges conventions of color theory, proportions, perspective in figure and portrait painting, but the “imperfections” define a style that is not generic and can easily be identified among a crowded field. I take liberties with values, lighting and contrast, which are often provocative to more classically trained artists. My painting process, if not chaotic, is unstructured, unplanned and unpredictable. I dive right into painting my subject, not knowing what the outcome will be.
