2011, Acrylic, paint marker, and water-based pigment ink on canvas, 60"w x 72"h
Questioning the distinction between abstraction and figuration, I am interested in the point at which something becomes an image in painting. These works serve as a means of escape from reality while also providing a space to contemplate the imagery we face in daily life. Drawing from an abundance of signage, textures and patterns, these paintings begin to confront the manifestation of our visual language and its complex nature.
