2012, Oil and digital output on canvas, 17.75"w x 14.5"h
My interests range from traditional forms of painting to the exploration of modern digital processes of image creation. The images’ ambiguity is enhanced by painting onto a mechanically printed canvas surface. There is an unexpected union and interplay between printer ink and oil paint, a synthesis between the efficient machine and the flawed hand of the painter. I must consider carefully where the intervention of paint is required in order to further complicate an already “finished” image. As a result of this dialogue, I encourage curiosity and sustain the act of looking for the viewer.
