I refer to the fragmented and hybrid nature of my experience as a Filipino immigrant. My work immerses the viewer in impressions of abundance and community through notions of Filipino food by using playful forms and color. I am also interested in the hybrid and multifarious origins of Filipino food as well as the interrelationships that occur within Filipino food structures and diaspora. I reflect on the fact that Philippine cuisine is hybrid and multilayered like many Filipino immigrants who have persevered and adapted to new lands.
