2009, Acrylic on canvas, 54"w x 40"h
The digital aesthetic of my paintings simultaneously challenges and affirms the necessity of digitization in contemporary life. Organic swirls of color are juxtaposed against geometric forms, resulting in imagery that is multi-dimensional. Certain laws of nature are obeyed, such as the perspective of certain shapes, however, these laws are simultaneously denied by overlapping layers that weave in and out of themselves and surrounding forms. My work seeks to reconcile the past with the present, the gestural with the precise, and human error with digital perfection. Although we tirelessly strive for such a perfection, we are infallibly imperfect.
