2013, Salvaged wood floor, ash, 11"w x 19"h x 14"d
This is an exploration of a salvaged wood floor. I am fascinated by how wood floors record the traces and histories of their owners. All the scratches and different colors tell different stories. They all end up in dumpsters or salvage warehouses after years, but I am fascinated by their beauty and richness because they carry so much information that new woods can’t provide. Every piece of salvaged wood in this project is locally sourced from Detroit. I collected them, cleaned them and put them back together in different patterns, letting them grow into different forms, resurrecting them.
A Daimler Company
Due to the building guidelines that are in place in response to the COVID-19 situation, we are unable to install a new art exhibit in our Farmington Hills, Michigan and Fort Worth, Texas offices.
Thankfully, the majority of artists who currently have their work on display in our Michigan and Texas locations have graciously allowed us to continue to do so through the spring of 2021. We would like to extend a huge thank you to those artists and we look forward to continuing with a new exhibition in the summer of 2021.
