polyurethane foam, wood, 2013, 16"w x 20"h x 16"d
This stool is part of the Hard Candy series that I made during my residency at the Talking Dolls in Detroit. Following the armchair, I wanted to explore the characteristics of the polyurethane foaming agent and the technique of molding in order to gain more control over the material. By only controlling the base of the stool top, the foaming agent is molded to a certain shape and allowed to free-flow when passing the top of the mold. Therefore, the outcome generates a more controlled pattern while still displaying the characteristics of flowing pigments.
