Oil on canvas 2011, 34"w x 46.5"h
In the act of looking, we are seduced by images that provide only clues to what may lie beneath the surface. Inspired by portraiture, couture and the history of painting, I look for ways to expose the concealing nature of an image’s facade. In each painting, the image pleads with the viewer to resolve its ever-elusive form. Savoring the seductive exchange, the viewer and image become entwined in an active portrait of the experience of looking.
