Mellow Blueness is a smaller version of my Blue Memories Inside Memories series. I intermingled sand from Cabo San Lucas with the oil paint. The paint tells the story of overlapping experiences, but the sand is the tangible metaphor of time-history—the fine sediment of ground shells pounded by the waves over thousands of years. That is really a daunting concept that begs the questions When did it start? When will it end?
