This body of work is an exploration of color and automatic gesture. Responding to the work of the early abstract painter Hilma af Klint, I begin each drawing with a 20-minute session of continuous mark making. Following this act, the composition forms through a process of action and reaction. The work then functions as an artifact for discovering unconscious desire, akin to the function of automatic drawing in spirit circles circa the turn of the 20th century.
