The seemingly unremarkable, mundane moments that make up the majority of our lives are fleeting, often neglected as we wait to savor the “big” moments. Inspired by the playfulness and charm of Winnie Truong’s collage work, as well as Florine Stettheimer’s “Painting Poetry” exhibition, I use a combination of drawing, watercolor and collage to situate figures in cozy, intimate spaces, thus creating narratives out of those delightfully ordinary moments, illuminating the magnificence in the mundane.
