Through painting I try to depict the feelings of awe, wonder, calmness and fear that come from being in nature. My interest lies in the idea of soft fascination—nature as a restorative property to calm anxiety and stress. My interest in the containment of nature, in a macro or micro scale, is what fuels my body of work. I pick and choose parts of plants or landscapes that I find visually and aesthetically interesting and enticing to come up with unique hybrids. I create worlds or recreate personal memories from my own image sources, Internet images or real life.
