In my current body of work I deconstruct family home videos, taken years ago, into fragments of images. Transformation of these fragments into paintings not only bridges the gap between the historical past and the present, it is also a way to reclaim my subjectivity as a painter through pictorial agency. In this sense, images of the past become raw material to redefine self through the filter of painting.
