2011, Porcelain, glaze, hardware, 5"h x 18"h x 5"d
I am a designer-maker, exploring the field of ceramics and light. I’m interested in creating work that blurs the lines between art and design. In this “Flower Lamp” I attempt to emphasize the hand-made quality of the object. I am looking for new ways to exploit the translucency of porcelain fired at a high temperature. The light that breaks through the porcelain, almost like an x-ray, reveals additional information about the structure and the complexity of the hand curved surface.
