This piece is intended to foreground the artificiality of our advertising systems through the deconstruction and collage of preexisting materials. Decorator’s paint is used to obscure the sign’s original communication in a fairly arbitrary way, while clippings that reference taste, desire and consumption are recontextualized in an abstract space in which material is substituted for mark.
