My work employs the conventions of figuration through the use of grotesquely rendered, organically shaped forms. The forms are created through a buildup of painterly gestures that accumulate into anthropomorphic figures. The spaces these figures inhabit are unnatural and ambiguously vacant, alluding to a vacuum. My interest lies in the interplay of traditional painterly techniques with an imaginary and playful subject.
