Because of my connection to South Africa, I focus on abstracting African animals by representing them in a new way—using bright colors and giving them a playfulness that is not always seen or known. With a father from South Africa, I am fortunate enough to have experienced many different countries in Africa and parts of the world that many can only dream of. Opposed to realistic representations, I show animals in a more approachable manner through abstraction with vibrant colors. I show the animals in ways that are not always recognizable at first, but upon closer inspection they become clear.
