While working at an embroidery shop last year, I became fascinated with the pile of colorful thread trimmings that accumulated in the trash can every week. I began collecting these scrap pieces of thread each day, regardless of color or amount, and formed them into bundles that gave the appearance of an independent object representing a workday’s worth of production. This photo series is an effort to recognize the beauty in discarded materials: presenting what is typically seen as garbage in such a way that one can appreciate the color, texture, form and individuality of each bundle.
