I’ve not had the easiest life when it comes to the radical gap between others’ expectations of me and the tools I’ve had to achieve those expectations. As such, I’ve gone through life looking outward and forward, never looking too closely at myself and the scars I have picked up along the way. When I set out to make a self-portrait, my initial plan was simply not to. I didn’t enjoy looking at myself or what I had become, so I decided to try and portray that feeling of walled-off latent aggression. The title Warning is meant to echo the hands pushing the viewer away, but I also wanted to include the eyes as the windows set into that wall.
