The subconscious mind is constantly working. From birth, it begins accumulating countless details, creating a collection of visual scenes, faces and smells. I draw from these spaces of familiarity, stripping and altering them until they present themselves as new forms of cognizance. They have formed who I am and can seem unchanging and perhaps even ungovernable. My work aims to examine aspects of the familiar, displaying themes of the body and sexuality, purity and filth, the familial and the domestic, and action and consequence.
