Oil and charcoal on canvas, 2018, 48"w x 36"h
I am drawn by things off the beaten path: the broken, strange, rusted, outdated, imperfect, disregarded and above all, the beautiful. True beauty is only found in the imperfect. Many die while still in search of the perfect. It does not exist. I want to bring viewers to a place that asks questions about their ideas of life and beauty. I want to pull away the layers of what we present to the world and look at the raw meat below. This is us at our core. This is where the beauty lies as well. It is where we can be vulnerable, honest and understood.
