In this painting we have an image of birth and emergent life. The entire square panel is filled with a circular composition of color and light, showing us an embryonic bird of prey. In the center of the image, the natural grain of the wood panel on which the bird is painted swirls and collects together—the grain structure of the wood becomes the bird’s ligaments, musculature and feathers. The growth of the bird out of the wood is an homage to natural processes.
