In my work I combine traditional gender-specific forms layered with text in an effort to explore the way gender is interpreted and defined. I am interested in the language that has formed around gender in the Western world and how it can be limiting to both sexes. Using various materials layered with text, I set up disparate relationships within the work as a means to challenge the suggested inherent qualities of a specific gender.
