While traveling through a Mexican desert, a surprise encounter with a colorful pilgrimage was the inspiration for this painting. The colors are influenced by the many years I lived in Mexico. The application of paint by brush and palette knife leaves a multilayered surface suggesting memories contained by the mountainous terrain.
