2011, Copper plate etchings with drypoint on Kitakata paper, 6"w x 8"h (each)
The chairs in these etchings construct spaces (in my current studio) out of compositional interest instead of functional arrangement. They have become drawing subjects to articulate a relatively standard matrix of proportions between chair height, depth, and back angle — while decorative details and structural variance provide comparison interest. Some of the chairs I designed and built; others were bought or found and have become fixtures in my home and studio life.
