Oil on wood panel, 2015, 30"w x 40"h
Ontology, illusion and fragmented identity are influences from which I layer elements into the spaces I create. Drawing imagery from nature and Internet searches, I design suspended arrangements that blend reality and the subconscious. I am interested in compositions that portray my own in-betweenness, and through collage I investigate ways in which I can build environments that reflect a pathos of inability to fully access my cultural patria—Cuba. What is the urgency? Does a genetic nostalgia exist? These are questions I am exploring.
