Conflict, illness and loss are the common denominators and, later, the catalysts that prompted an urgent pursuit of empathy, understanding and relief. A life punctuated by sudden illness, by the unexpected loss of those closest to me and by familial conflicts necessitated that I preserve my own life and well-being. The figures I form with my hands see, feel and embody my pain. They understand my loss for they have seen it too. Balancing the grotesque with occasional humor as a means of therapy, I capture deep emotion and expression in my figurative work.
