Cast iron, 2018, 12"w x 9"h x 13"d
Growing up, I’d sit outside for hours in my backyard. I’d dig up the Texas clay and make whatever I thought up. I found out early that I could create my own world with the language of art. By the age of seven, my bedroom shelves were filled with dried clay sculptures, some of which I still have. Now I’m lucky enough to work with cast iron, fired ceramic, linoleum prints and paint. I continue to create my own world, but now I use my work to challenge the ideas of the normative while addressing issues of class, friendship and mortality.
