The series of photographs entitled The Autobiography of Marie Reid is part of a larger installation project that investigates personal history. I have degraded the images to the point of anonymity so that they stand as archetypes of a universal family. I am interested in personal identity and how it is formed by our relationships with family. This project investigates memory and how our ties to our families are based on shared memories. Another reason that these nostalgic images are blurred is to represent the way that events recede in our memory as time passes.
