Black-and-white and color 35mm film negatives with Google images, 2017, 16.5"w x 21"h
My work challenges a popular conversation within photography that opposes analog and digital techniques. While film photography is considered to be obsolete and inconvenient, digital photography is characterized by instant gratification and accessibility. These associated traits are bothersome to me as they reflect a modern world opinion; at the same time, they undermine film photography. The more important qualities of each technique are actually film’s physicality and digital images’ universality. I indicate this by physically destroying my negatives in various ways and reintroducing them into digital contexts acquired from Google Images.
