The postcard is a historical reference to the idea of collecting, communication and mobility. Postcards signify time, space and memory. My work is concerned with the experience of the postcards as a metaphor for identity and mobility. Drawing from my Korean-Canadian experience, I explore the notion of mobility and dual identity. Through hybrid collage, digital and traditional methods, and the use of borrowed imagery from postcards and souvenirs, I create compositions that explore feelings of displacement and being a foreigner within one’s own country.
