MFA 2016
watercolor and colored pencil on paper, 2014, 8"w x 6"h
This piece uses the rich metaphor of trees. Their roots entrench them and draw life from the earth, as people draw their livelihoods from the natural world. They entangle with one another invisibly under the ground, as people’s lives tangle with one another. Their trunks and branches are very body-like, paralleling human forms. In this small drawing, I begin to address these parallels.
