Through my work I seek queer space in which material no longer highlights the body’s exile but instead forms a new language. Hybrid beings, those that cross-dress, genetically mutate or are simply hermaphroditic and defy perceived binaries are the creatures that occupy the queer. On borrowed time, bodies, speech and material interact without fear of westernized separation. Although not always wearable, it is the implication of wearability without meeting the conventional expectation that pushes the work into queer space. This space may often be taken as fantasy or futuristic, but my view is of the present. My creations are spawned from the mappings and traces of what is based in the current social condition and not founded in a search for utopia.
