Oil and acrylic on found wood, 2017, 30.5"w x 28.5"h
I walk—following abrupt, intuitive motivation, not concerned with destination, but enamored with the act of searching. Searching for the worn, wasted and forgotten fragments of a city digesting. I photograph each discovery—whether it be a marbled texture on a rusted post or a worn number on the wall of a shipping container—each one carries with it a rich history, every mark an account of time or suggestion of human tampering. By collecting, deconstructing and abstracting these components of our built environment, the discarded can become necessity, the neglected can command our attention.
