Almost every time I paint I end up painting over my work at least two or three times before I get it the way I like it. I cover the old layers with new layers, hoping to cover up the ugly with something beautiful. We cover up what we think is unattractive or unlovable, hoping nobody will see our flaws. We are never satisfied with the new coat of paint, so we cover it up again and again with unsuccessful results. This painting represents the true beauty that lingers beneath each layer we attempt to cover up, showing us the true beauty in the flawed creations we are.
