This painting is based on a 30-year-old photograph of me as a young boy. It is meant to be viewed at a distance—the same way I wanted people to view me most of my life. The closer you get to the painting, the less certain you are of who this boy really is. What are his hopes? What are his dreams? Where will life take him?
