I draw and drive. Three-dimensional works like this are based on the initial driving sketches. I see landscape as a system of signs that allow the viewer to locate himself. I am interested in a position that is fluid, always changing, while prompted by external references. The activity of reorientation is analogous with an immigrant’s attempt to figure out his place in relation to multiple cultural references. Indeed, I developed my recent practice as an analogy to how the sense of identity develops and how precarious, stratified and conflicted this process is.
