Houses are like people. They are built carefully. A professional architect builds her houses with precision. Year after year the house gains character, weathering the storms of life, gaining bruises, scratches and chips in its foundation. Sometimes houses become weak and need surgery to keep them together. Sometimes they need quick fixes, manicures, a new coat of paint. Houses have relationships with the people who dwell inside them. Once in a while their relationships are broken. Sometimes houses outlive their people. The most interesting houses are those that have known many dwellers who saturate the walls, windows and crevices with stories.
