This work represents my investigation into the lives, memories and experiences of women in my “motherline” from the Victorian era to the present. The term motherline refers to the shared experience of women who get together to tell female stories about the physical, psychological, and historical. I valorize the lives of the women in my motherline through the pleasure I take in dressing up and the close relationships I maintain with them. I yearn to be a full-time mother and give my future children a similar experience that I had growing up; however, I feel this is in constant conflict with my career as a visual artist.
