2010, Photography, 24"w x 16"h
This work is a selection from my ongoing investigation
of contemporary snapshot aesthetics. Historically the snapshot has acted as a window into exotic subcultures and allowed the viewer to live vicariously through the photographer’s documents of his experience in those worlds. The vernacular of the party scene has now permeated both art and popular media; it is a common aesthetic. I am interested in finding a way to slow
down our experience of the snapshot, stripping away documentary cues and instead interacting with the viewer as a singular image through the use of tint
and scale.
