Relief prints, various woods, 2019, 21"w x 18"h (each)
I explore the process of memory creation and how one’s memories are altered by time and experience. Wood grain, personal writing, my own prints, recycled paper and plant matter serve as materials and metaphors for the creation and compression of memory. I create prints and paper composites through the alteration and reshaping of those materials. Processed woods, composed of compressed wood pieces from different trees, serve as representations of how we store and retain memory. The resulting work is intended to reflect the transmutation of individual experience into a culmination of memories, experiences and origins frozen in time like the indexical images created through printmaking.
