In my latest painting series, I consider questions such as, “how do we ‘see’ architecture?” I explore this by bringing forth an architectural detail or structure and placing it out of context into an abstract environment. Sometimes I have the detail or structure emerge from the background. There’s a mystery and a spiritual aspect as to how the painting develops, and to me it’s like learning a foreign language. Therefore my paintings are titled in different languages, with the titles loosely referring to the type of structure or style or perhaps to its “spiritual” nature.
