2009, Needlepoint, 11"w x 8"h
Our brains work in mysterious ways. Certain facts, experiences, books, names, and phone numbers will never leave us, while family member’s faces can fade away from our memory bank. I decided to call upon my memory and try and recall the illustrations from my favorite children’s books: Miss Rumphius, Good Night Moon, and King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub. These three books were read to me, upon my request, repeatedly.
I turned my recollections into needlepoints, plotting where I thought certain parts of the illustrations
started and stopped.
