The painting Double or Nothing was inspired by a very small found photograph of a boy throwing a yo-yo. In 2009-10, I used found photographs as reference material for painting and altered the images with double-effects, ghost-figures, and strange color to evoke nostalgia and the impermanence of memory. My work from 2010-11 carries over these interests but instead of found images to reference, I have staged scenarios with friends and loved ones that appear in my work.
